• Do you cover My State Licensing exam?
The only states that conduct their own tests are Hawaii, New York, and Ohio. All other states utilize the MBLEx, NCETM/ NCETMB for licensing exams. Check our state information pages located on the left hand side of our homepage for the accepted exams in your state. When subscribing to our site to review for the Hawaii, New York and Ohio State exams we recommend the MBLEx review.
• If I take and pass the NCETM/TMB or MBLEx in my state, will I be licensed in another state?
No, each state has different requirements for licensure. You must apply in each state you wish to practice massage. If the new state accepts your current states exam, you will not have to take another licensing exam, (MBLEx, NCETM/TMB) just send proof of passing with the new states application to receive a license. Contact the State boards to ask if they will accept your current qualifications. You may need to take addition classroom hours to obtain a license.
• My state accepts both the NCETMB and the MBLEx. What is the difference?
The NCETM/TMB is an exam administered by a private organization that gives you a certificate of completion to practice massage. The MBLEx is administered by an affiliation of each states government Massage Therapy Boards and gives a license to practice massage. The NCETMB also includes assessment and application Complementary Alternative Medicine (CAM) questions, along with pharmacology and herbal questions. The MBLEx will ask CAM questions regarding definitions of modalities.

• What is the difference between the NCETM and NCETMB?
The National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage & Bodywork (NCBTMB) has two main tests, the NCETM and the NCETMB. Each have 160 questions and cost the same, however the NCETMB has Complementary Alternative Medicine (CAM) questions. Confirm which exam is accepted by your state before applying to take the exam.
• Which is a better exam to take, the MBLEx or the NCETM/NCETMB?
The MBLEx was designed to be a straightforward exam, with no confusing or deterring questions and answers. The NCETM/TMB utilizes deterrents that may be confusing. The other difference is the content. The MBLEx is geared more toward a newly graduating student. Whereas the NCETM/TMB has extra CAM modality application and assessment tool content geared more towards a graduate that has had continuing education credits or an Asian approach to their curriculum.
• When will I get my exam scores?
Our online practice exams are graded instantly and can be viewed by clicking the grade exam button at the end of each exam or by clicking the eye graphic next to the graded exams on your results page.
The NCETM/TMB and MBLEx are exams administered by Pearson VUE, after you have selected the completed button on your exam the scores are sent to the Proctors who will deliver the results to you before you exit the testing center.

• Is the MBLEx easier then the NCETM/TMB?
Some will argue that the MBLEx is much easier because they don’t try to deter or deceive you. However if you are properly prepared you can effectively pass both exams. It also depends upon your test taking skills, if you are confident and approach each question carefully reading each word and disqualifying the absolutely wrong answers, you can talk your way to the right answer by process of elimination.
• Why does your site have so many questions?
Some are under the impression that our site will give you the exact questions from these exams. Nowhere on our site does it state this and that would infringe upon copyright laws of the respective exams. However because we have compiled a comprehensive review of basic massage curriculum, our database will allow you to completely review what you have covered in your schools to build your confidence on the content and format of the licensing exams. Our rationale that accompanies each graded question also solidifies your studies with helpful hints or explanations that support the content of the question.
• If I subscribe to your site, how many times can I take the test?
Our site’s only restriction is time. The amount of review tests you take is up to you. You may use our site any time day or night whenever you find the time to review. We recommend an hour a day for best results. The actual exams (NCETM/TMB and MBLEx) must have a new application and fee each time the test is taken. The NCETM/TMB has a restriction of 3 attempts, after that they require additional school clock hours before being eligible to retake the exam.

• How do I apply to take the MBLEx or NCETM/TMB?
Most of the time your school or institution walks you through this process and sends in the application for you. If your school does not provide this service, go to their websites and download the application and handbook. Follow the application checklists and return the completed forms to the address provided. You will receive a letter in the mail, giving the testing date range and permission to test authorization information. You will not be able to test without this letter being sent to you first. It can take up to three months before a response is given.
• Can I take the MBLEx or NCETM/NCETMB while I am in school?

You will not get a license from your state to practice until you have filled out the application and sent in your passing score on the exam and your transcripts from school.

• Why won’t your site grade my sample test?
Our site has several sample tests available for you to examine before registering to our site. The sample tests give you the opportunity to answer some questions from our database, however the “Grade Exam” button at the end of the test does not grade the exam. You have full access after registration. Some have registered onto the site and then go to this link rather then logging onto the site. Please use your username and password to obtain full access to all the questions with graded answers and rationale.
• Are the tests randomly selected?
Each category selection you choose to test in has a certain number of questions to pull the exams from. The questions created from this queue, if answered correctly, will go to the back of the category queue. Questions answered incorrectly will stay at the front of the queue so you will see them again in order to make sure you can answer them correctly. Once you answer those questions correctly, they will go to the back of the queue.
• How do I know when I am ready to take my Licensing Exam?
We believe that a category percentile score of 80% is a good indicator for exam readiness. The Random exam category pulls questions from each category just like the National and MBLEx exams. Utilize this section to test your abilities to answer questions in every category and try for 80% or better. Your confidence and knowledge base will be strengthened, to help you prepare for your licensing exam.

• I was taking a practice exam, and I got kicked out. Why?
Our program will only kick you out of the site if you have been idle for more than 45 minutes. If you are being kicked off earlier then that, your web browser may have a time out feature. To avoid this from happening you can change the setting parameters established by the browser, or click every so often on the page when working on a question that might take longer then 10 minutes to answer.
• Does the MBLEx have Complimentary Alternative Medicine (CAM) questions?
The MBLEx only has modality definition questions pertaining to CAMs, it does not contain assessment and application techniques about those CAMs. You will find the definitions along with CPR and History questions in the Complimentary Alternative Modalities category of the exam section choices.
• I am studying the content for the MBLEx why is there a Complimentary Alternative Medicine (CAM) category?
The MBLEx has modality definition questions pertaining to CAMs, but not assessment and application questions about those CAMs. You will find the definitions along with CPR and History questions in the Complimentary Alternative Modalities and Random categories of the exam section choices.
